During the past few months, I have noticed several taco stands beginning to pop up on the side of the roads in Norman. One including EL Polo Taco located on Highway 9 and Lindsey. I think it would be interesting to talk to the different owners at all of these taco stands and figure out if they face any competition between all the other taco stands and if owning a business in a trailer is difficult.
There's a possible angle worth exploring: Are there more taco stands because there are more immigrants?
Here's a good story idea... where does the OU daily get there stories? Do a profile on how a news story is made, from the conception of the idea to its publishing. Monitor the dialogue between the reporter and editor. Profile the reporter as they prepare for an interview. Then, find the person(s) who stole my bathroom story idea and crush them.
Cool feature idea for this week is exploring all the different coffee countries the United States import from. I believe some of the major countries include Brazil, Colombia and Vietnam. I would like to look at how all three countries grow their coffee beans differently? And ask a coffee expert to say how they taste differently from one another.
Jason Martin is a PFLAG member in Norman. The support group helped Martin after he "came out" at the age of 32. Now 35, Martin has been excommunicated from his church and family. In the recent media coverage about the "surge" in GLBTQ suicides, Martin has something to tell the media and his fellow community members. How does he handle this life change? What does he have for others?
Craig Mowder is an engineer student applying for grad school for the first time in his life. I would like to profile him and follow him through the process of applying for school that will possibly change his life and further his career.
