Post Your Cool Feature Idea Here

  1. Every year Newkirk, Oklahoma celebrates the founding of the town with an event they call Charlie Adam's Day. The town (which is very small) holds a crafts and food fair, along with a BBQ competition for visitors and residents to come to. Newkirk City Council always hires entertainment for the day, but decided several years ago that it was way too expensive to hire actors from outside of the area. After this decision was made, Newkirk City Council met and formed their own acting troupe. Every year, people can come and watch the men of the town perform a professional gunshow/stageshow. It's become the highlight of Charlie Adam's Day.

  2. Oklahomans know road construction. It is on almost every highway, turnpike and back road as we attempt to fill potholes, repave or refill gravel roads. As drivers, we are unhappy before construction and unhappy during construction. Do drivers take their frustrations out on the construction workers? A profile format that tells of a construction workers fears, hours and struggles on Oklahoma roadways.

  3. There are a variety of places to eat in Oklahoma City. But rather than picking a place based on food, why not choose a restaurant that will send chills down your spine? The Haunted House Restaurant, a private steak house, is the perfect place to go for a haunting experience. Located in an old mansion where three deaths occurred, this would be an interesting place to investigate. Why was it turned into a restaurant? And do people go there hoping to see more than what they expect?

  4. Who has a horribly boring job? Toll both workers! They have to deal with mad drivers and massive amounts of boredom, while they preform the same repetitive task over, over, over, and over again. If average/overlooked people make for good feature stories, then very average people with very overlooked jobs make for very good feature stories.

  5. Since the State Fair is coming up in September and since I've never really gone since moving to Oklahoma, I'm thinking of possibly killing two birds with one stone and finding an interesting person to interview there. But since that's slightly off in the distance and I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket, I'll get back to you on a "Plan B" feature idea.

  6. There will be an audition going at Catlett Music Center today from 4:15pm - 5:30pm for selecting someone to sing the national anthem for the OU home football games. I wish to observe the audition scene and write about it. Also, get someone to talk to me about how they got here to participate in the audition and how they feel about it.
